Bangkok/ 14 March, 2011: The Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization) or TCEB, has joined together with over 400 local MICE operators from both public and private sectors nationwide to launch a major local campaign "D-MICE: Believe in Thailand". With this effort, TCEB is confident that it will further boost Thailand's revenues accounted to over 17.5 billion baht.
Mr. Akapol Sorasuchart, President of Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization) or TCEB, revealed that "the launch of the D-MICE: Believe in Thailand campaign is aimed at generating awareness and understanding of the role and direction of development of Thailand local MICE industry. Recognizing its growing importance, the bureau has also set its reorganization by establishing the "Domestic MICE Promotion Department. The campaign is orchestrated in collaboration with all sectors in order to maximize the domestic MICE market penetration
The "D-MICE: Believe in Thailand" campaign has so far been very well received by all 15 top MICE organizations from both private and public sectors nationwide including MICE Citites (Bangkok, Pattaya, Chiang Mai and Phuket), MICE Venues, Industry associations such as the Thailand Incentive and Convention Association (TICA), the Thai Exhibition Association (TEA) and the Thai Hotels Association (THA).
This event has attracted strong interest and positive feedback from the 400 visitors from all regions. The event presented activities under the ‘D-MICE: Believe in Thailand' campaign, divided into four separate exhibitions; 1) the history and development of Thailand's MICE industry, 2) the development of MICE Cities, Green Meetings, Creative MICE, CSR campaigns, and a TV programme ‘Understanding MICE' 3) the latest trends in domestic MICE market promotion, via 6 themes: Team Building through experiencing challenges, instilling pride in Thailand's history and culture, enhancing productivity, fostering environmental consciousness, CSR and a glimpse of the luxury available in Thailand and 4) key communication channel: Meetings in Thailand Directory, Hotline Call Centre (02 530 7111) and website www.meetinginthailand.com, including online media such as twitter.com/meetinthailand and facebook.com/meetinthailand
In addition, the event has also highlighted a seminar on the topic ‘Business Prospects in Organizing Thailand's Domestic MICE Market'. A number of renowned leaders in Thailand's MICE sector joined this event, including Kh Weerasak Kosurat, Director of the International Institute for Trade and Development (Public Organization), or ITD, Kh Sommat Khunset, Secretary General of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), Kh Wichai Atrasakorn, Member and Deputy Secretary General, Thai Chamber of Commerce, Kh Suchada Yuwaboon, Executive President, Rose Garden Riverside Hotel, and Kh Akapol Sorasuchart, President of TCEB. Participants exchanged views and ideas on domestic MICE business opportunities and the sector's potential to contribute as a key pillar of Thailand's MICE sector and the national economy.
In conclusion, Mr Akapol disclosed that "Together with our utterly readiness in our countries, TCEB is confident that Thailand's domestic MICE market will continue to grow robustly and sustainably, bringing revenues to all concerned. We expect that by 2015 ‘Domestic MICE' will mean be ‘ASEAN MICE Market' of which will penetrate its local market to 880 million people, from the 10 ASEAN countries and southern China. By that year we foresee growth of 100% over the year 2009. This will be a major step towards realizing Thailand's goal as the globally preferred MICE destination in Asia.
